Chess!! Join the Festivities— Saturday, October 11, 2008
Oct. 11, 2008 Italian American Quads in Washington Park (Outdoors - 1:30 start)
Be a part of the 29th Columbus Italian Festival
Enter the Zona Bambini (Kids’ Zone) on the Parade Grounds in Washington Park. Open Chess Play begins at 12:00 Noon. Try the Italian Opening (1 e4 e5 2 Nf3 Nc6 3 Bc4 …). Look for the tent.
Parade begins on Ontario Street at 1:00. It travels to Western Avenue and into Washington Park. Roads are open to street parking.
Quads (four players per section) are open for kids to compete at chess beginning at 1:30. Limited to 20 players (5 sections) at a time. Each player plays three games. Preregistration (desired) by email to brjohn@juno.com The winner of each gets a chess medal. Remember to Dress Warmly. Ends about 4:30 (or earlier).
